Here are the full details of how to make tiramisu........

Ingredients for making the tiramisu:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 to 30 ladyfingers
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

How to prepare tiramisu:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until they become pale and creamy.
  2. Add the softened mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and blend until smooth and well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture, creating a light and airy texture. Set aside.
  4. In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur, if using.
  5. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture briefly, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  6. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) dish or a similar-sized trifle dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, creating an even layer.
  8. Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
  9. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to meld together and the tiramisu to set properly.
  10. Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings, if desired, to add an extra touch of elegance.
